OS/2 executable of ChkTeX ========================= The OS/2 executable of ChkTeX is provided here for people who do not have access to, or who do not wish to be troubled with a C compiler. It has been generated with Eberhard Mattes' emx development package which is available from all OS/2 archives, e.g. ftp.leo.org (Germany) in /pub/comp/os/os2/devtools/emx+gcc hobbes.nmsu.edu (U.S.A) in os2/unix/emx09b, with minimal intervention with respect to the source of ChkTeX. System requirements ------------------- (1) OS/2 2.x or higher. The executable has been tested on OS/2 Warp but should run also under version 2.x. (2) emxrsx libraries version 0.9b. Since you are looking at the OS/2 executable you most probably have installed EmTeX and, with it, the emxrsx package. If you have an older version you will get a warning. Install version 0.9b (or higher) from where you got EmTeX from, i.e. from one of the ftp sites given above, or from a CTAN site, e.g. ftp.dante.de (Germany) in /pub/tex/systems/os2/emtex/emxrsx.zip Installation of the ChkTeX executable ------------------------------------- (1) Copy ChkTeX.exe to a convenient place, e.g. somewhere along your path. (2) Read the docs that come with the ChkTeX sources, e.g. in ChkTeX.dvi. (3) Edit the file chktexrc to suit your needs and put it into the same directory where the executable resides. Since the executable does not respect paging of output through "more", you might want to define a file that collects output, e.g. by specifying CMDLINE { -o ChkTeX.output -b } at the appropriate place in the chktexrc file. An alternative way to save the output to a file is to state ChkTeX.exe 2> output.file Where to turn for help ---------------------- If you have questions on the program ChkTeX, please, ask the author Jens T. Berger Thielemann at jensthi@ifi.uio.no. If you have questions on this OS/2 port you may ask me, or even better, come up with your own improved port. Wolfgang Fritsch fritsch@hmi.de
