The files ctex.shar* are the sources to Pat Monardo's port of TeX to C called Common-TeX, version 2.0. You need to obtain the tfm and macro files separately for these sources to be useful. It works on BSD Unix systems and is reputed to work on SysV also. It does not look difficult to port to a generic Unix environment but I have not run the program on any system but BSD Unix. I also believe there are a couple of small bugs but I have no time to play with C-TeX. The result works just like the Unix Pascal TeX. It is only about 20% faster and 10% smaller. There are 10 shar files about 90+k max. each. Please do not ask me how to get in touch with the author. I don't know. You have been told all I know already. Ken Yap May 1987 Stop press: in a recent news posting Pat said he would be releasing 2.1 soon. So you might want to wait. Up to you.
