README file for "fe-format dumper-cm" directory. See: fe-dump.doc, Dec 1992 Documentation for "fe-format-dumper-cm" a directory of ascii ".tex" files for TeX format creation by L. Siebenmann. Posting: matups.matups.fr [192.54.146.4] You should normally take all files from the matups.matups.fr directory as they they depend on one another. For this you should launch ftp from within an empty directory at your local site and use the command: mget * In truth, you can be more selective if you are interested in a single format; see MINIMIZING FILE TRANSFERS below. Beware: Files of the same name from a similar but distinct directory such as fe-format-dumper-cm may be quite different. This directory contains the assembled 7-bit ascii ".tex" tools necessary to create French-English versions of the major formats Plain, LaTeX, AmSTeX and that use (possibly extended) cm fonts and exploit the mechanisms HyAcc-CM or CeasarCM to facilitate hyphenation. Then read the instructions in fe-dump.doc. The files required in this directory are: -tex-me.tex ams-act.tex caesarcm.tex dumperfr.pub fe-ams.dmp fe-amslcd.tex fe-dump.doc fe-lams.dmp fe-latex.dmp fe-plain.dmp fe-punct.tex fr-us.tex fr8hyph.ck fr8hyph.src gllmts.tex h-plain.dmp hy-mstr.cm hy-prep.tex HyAcc-CM.tex hyphen.tex lcd89.tex lhyphen.tex README.ndx These files collaborate intimately with one another; it is vital to keep them all "together". There may also be soma extra files, possibly in a subdirectory; they are not essential for the main formats. You will also need to put into your default TeX directory the standard versions of format files from ftp labrea.stanford.edu [36.8.0.47], notably plain.tex for Plain format lplain.tex, lfonts.tex, latex.tex for LaTeX amstex.tex for AmSTeX with possibly amsppt.sty, amssym.def, amssym.tex amstexl.tex and lamstex.tex for LamsTeX For lamstex, good sources are saturn.hrz.tu-chemnitz.de [128.83.138.20] and math.princeton.edu [128.112.128.157] The documentation fe-dump.doc will tell you about necessary font ".tfm" files. If you propose to use partially extended cm fonts (and hence CaesarCM to manage them), then the .tfm files for the extended cm fonts will have to be installed before format compilation, as indicated in CaesarCM.doc. MINIMIZING FILE TRANSFERS Many sites are short on disk space. Although fe-format-dumper-cm uses more files than strictly necessary, the total disk space needed can be made exceedingly small. (1) If you are interested in Plain TeX only then the following ftp commands will fetch all the files you could possibly want: mget caesarcm.tex dumperfr.pub fe-dump.doc fe-plain.dmp mget fe-punct.tex fr-us.tex fr8hyph.tex mget gllmts.tex h-plain.dmp hy-mstr.cm hy-prep.tex mget HyAcc-CM.tex README.ndx (2) For AmSTeX add to the above mget *ams* rejecting (if you are asked) the files fe-lams.dmp lamstex.tex and amstexl.tex (unless you want LamSTeX also). (3) For LaTeX, use mget * but reject files containing the string ams.
